* Surgical Scrub : Bacteria – Viruses – Fungi.

* Indications:

It is used as a germicidal detergent pre- and post operatively and in the physician’s office, either for hand degerming or the preparation of the patient’s skin.

* Method of use:

For pre-operative washing by operating personnel and for use on patients:

– Moisten the hands and/or the areas of skin to be treated.

Apply BETADINE Surgical Scrub for the hands about 5ml (otherwise about 2ml/100 cm2) and rub well for 2.5 to 5 minutes.

To obtain a better lather, a few drops of water can be added.

Then rinse off or wash off with clean water.

– Complete the wash by repeating the previous process in the same way for pre-operative washing by operating personnel.

* Adverse Effects and Precautions:

– It can cause hypersensitivity reactions and irritation of the skin and mucous membranes, although severe reactions are rare.

– Its use should be kept to the absolute minimum in newborns and small infants.

– Used with caution in pregnancy and lactation as sufficient iodine may be absorbed to affect the fetal thyroid.

– Should not be applied for extended period of time and to large areas of the skin unless strictly indicated in patients with thyroid disorders and having lithium therapy.

* Drug Interactions:

Mercury, Silver, Hydrogen peroxide and Taurolidine.

* For external use only.

* Store at temperature not exceeding 30 degrees C. Keep away from direct sunlight and fire.
