LONGACEF 1 GM – I M – 1 VIAL

* For preparation: Add 3.5 mL Lidocaine HCl solution. For single use only.
* Indications: Indicated in the following infections:
& & – Acute otitis media.
& & – Lower respiratory tract infections.
& & – Skin && skin structure infections.
& & – Urinary tract infections.
& & – Uncomplicated gonorrhoea.
& & – Bacterial septicaemia.
& & – Intra-abdominal infections.
& & – Bone && joint infections.
& & – Meningitis.
& & – It is also used in pre-operative prophylaxis.
* Dosage && administration:
& & – It is given by slow I.V. or deep I.M. injection into the gluteus muscle once daily (every 24 hours).
& & – Treatment is to be continued for at least 2 days after the symptoms of disease have disappeared.
& & – Adults && children over 12 years: the usual dose is 1-2 gm daily. The dose can be increased to 4 gm daily in severe cases
& & or in infections caused by moderately sensitive organisms to Ceftriaxone.
& & – Pediatric: 50-75 mg / kg of body weight, given once daily or divided dose twice daily. The total daily dose should not exceed 2gm.
& & – Acute, uncomplicated gonorrhoea, one dose of 250 mg I.M. should be administered.
& & – Pre-operative prophylaxis: 1gm as a single dose, 0.5-2 hours prior the operation.
